The Heat Beneath Your Feet

I loved Thursday’s entry from Investor Words:

scorched-earth policy

A reaction to a takeover attempt that involves liquidating valuable
assets and assuming liabilities in an effort to make the proposed
takeover unattractive to the acquiring company.

With a bit of work and a tailwind, you could almost weave a whole book around that. But if you called that book Scorched-Earth Policy or even Scorched Earth, everyone would think it was SF/F.

Hmmmm... come to think of it, a lot of stuff connected to the stock market really does feel like science fiction. (More weight on the fiction than the science, though.)
