What Kills A Woman Every Minute of Every Day?

This is one of those facts that is scary-sad, and can put your whole life in perspective:
Throughout most of human history childbirth has been the leading killer of women. That’s still true today, even when modern medicine has the power to virtually eliminate maternal mortality.

Pair this with the recent piece in the NYT about child brides (pre-pubescent girls as young as 8, and no, they are not ceremonial, they are routinely raped), and you can see how little women are valued. ugh.
