Just Say No to Frankenbunny
If people involved in making decisions about such things read much fiction, this matter would be a non-starter. From a piece in New Scientist:
Controversial? That’s an understatement. Again: if these researchers had read any speculative fiction at all, these would be non-issues. Two brilliant books that touch on these issues are Gun With Occasional Music by Jonathan Lethem and Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood. I know there are many, many others but these two left incredible impressions on me. (And both are wonderful books, besides.) There are other examples (ask any Australian) but some things are just better left alone.
