A century is only a spoke in the wheel of everlasting time.” --

Louis Riel was a martyr of the Metis, and left a lasting impression on Canadian history. I am sad to see that on the internet, people are still ignorant enough to hide behind a veil of anonymous.

At the very least, this gives me a topic to blog about, thank you Linda.

Thaat is a very Beautiful qoute and so true. I feel bad for people like Anonymous even though you are entitled to your opinon and I respect it. I myself is Metis from Canada and feel a strong tie to our country. Thank you Linda for the beautiful Qoute. As for Anonymous, Im sorry you feel that way about a man who stood up for what he believe in and died because of who he was and not what he did. Perhaps maybe one day you will have someone stand up for you and your beliefs

Riel spoke for halfbreed people that could not speak for themselves. As far as his prophetic writings, he understood that we all have this wisdom, and ability, and are given opportunity to express it. He said he was no different than the rest of us, but could not ignore what he saw.

I agree totally with Susan, He was a hero in my eyes, I am part Metis and respect Louis greatly! It kinda helps he is like my great great (great?) grandfather! (or something like that)

Anonymous is clearly uneducated. Riel was never in a mental institution. He is the founder of Manitoba and an incredible leader. He was tried and put to death by a crooked government with an alcoholic leader. The myth that he was crazy was perpetuated to try and undermine everything good and true he stood for. He could have pled insanity, even his lawyers told him to do so so that he would not be put to death. Instead, he refused knowing he would die.
